Anhui University News (Yan Rui, School of Electrical Engineering and Automation) On December 1, after being invited to participate in the "14th Five Year Plan" Summit Discipline Construction and Development Seminar of Control Science and Engineering, Anhui University, Gui Weihua, an academician of the CAE Member and professor of Central South University, and his delegation visited the patriotism practice education base of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation - the Memorial Hall of the Crossing the River Campaign, and listened to the full explanation of Peng Jin, a 2020 undergraduate volunteer lecturer of the Institute. Bi Tao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Tao Jun, Dean, Pan Tianhong, Vice Dean, as well as some representatives of teachers and students and volunteer lecturers from the school participated in the activity.

Zhongshan rises from the wind and rain, turning yellow, and a million brave soldiers cross the river. In April 1949, the Chinese People's Liberation Army crossed the natural perils of the Yangtze River, launched a world-famous battle to cross the river, liberated Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and other important cities, and laid a foundation for victory for the liberation of the country and the birth of the People's Republic of China. The main venue of the Cross River Campaign Memorial Hall, located on the shore of Chaohu Lake, resembles two magnificent warships sailing side by side on the water, pointing straight towards the Yangtze River in the south. On the afternoon of December 1st, Gui Weihua and his delegation arrived here. With the explanation of Peng Jin, they walked and watched, visiting six exhibition halls including pre war situation, campaign preparation, breakthrough of the river defense, campaign victory, people's support for the front, and heroic achievements. They felt the magnificent spirit of a million strong army crossing the river and occasionally stopped to communicate and exchange information on relevant situations.

Gui Weihua said that he was impressed by this visit, which made him feel the magnificent waves when "a million heroes" crossed the Yangtze River more than 70 years ago on the land of Anhui, and gave high praise to Peng Jin, a volunteer lecturer of the college. He believed that voluntary interpretation services reflected the fundamental task of Anhui University to deeply implement morality and cultivate people, effectively promoted the comprehensive development of students' morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor, and cultivated students' fine qualities of loving the party, patriotism and volunteering to serve the society.

It is reported that the Memorial Hall of the Crossing of the Yangtze River Campaign is the third batch of national defense education demonstration bases, national patriotism education demonstration bases, and the first batch of national education bases for caring about the next generation of party history and national history. On August 19, 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the Cross River Campaign Memorial Hall during his inspection and research in Hefei, Anhui Province, to revisit revolutionary history and pay tribute to revolutionary martyrs. The Anhui Hall of Fame is a patriotic education base in Anhui Province, the first batch of national primary and secondary school students' study and practice education bases, a Chinese overseas Chinese international cultural exchange base, a national 4A level tourist attraction, and a national second level museum. The two museums have become well-known public cultural service institutions in China with high-quality services and complete facilities.

The School of Electrical Engineering and Automation actively responded to General Secretary Xi Jinping's call to "make good use of red resources, inherit red genes, and pass on the red landscape from generation to generation". In July of this year, it carried out party organization co construction with the Management Office of the Crossing of the Yangtze River Campaign Memorial Hall (Anhui Celebrity Hall) and signed an agreement on the co construction of a patriotic education practice base. Since August, the college has organized some Communist Party members, development targets, and active party members to conduct voluntary lectures and training at the two museums. The "Red Hall" preaching team of the management office of the Crossing the Yangtze River Campaign Memorial Hall (Anhui Celebrity Hall) has been invited to the school to carry out special lectures on party history and school education. The college has jointly held the exhibition "The Great People's Educator - Tao Xingzhi" with the Anhui Celebrity Hall and the immersive ideological and political education theme activity "I Tell the Story of Crossing the Yangtze River Campaign Cultural Relics" with the Crossing the Yangtze River Campaign Memorial Hall. Through paired joint construction activities, the college has fully utilized this important ideological and political education platform and vivid classroom to guide young students in the college to firmly uphold their ideals and beliefs, cultivate patriotism, inherit the red genes with practical actions, and continue the spiritual bloodline of Communist Party members.
