Built upon the approval by the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council, the Yangtze-crossing Campaign Memorial Museum is so far the largest memorial facility in China dedicated to the glorious history of the Yangtze-crossing Campaign. It has a collection of historic records and relics larger than those in any other similar venue. Located at 299 Yungu Lu, Hefei, Anhui, the museum covers an area of 220,000 square meters, facing the vast Chaohu Lake that is 800 square kilometers in water area. It was officially opened to visitors on November 28, 2012. 

On the premises of the museum, we can see from south to north the Victory Tower, the Victory Square, a sculpture of the leaders of the General Front Committee for the Yangtze-crossing Campaign, the main hall of the memorial museum, and the Liberation Square. The Victory Tower is 99 meters high, symbolizing the victory of the People's Libration Army. From the air, the plan view of the tower looks like a five-pointed star. The sculpture of the leaders of the General Front Committee is cast in pure copper. From east to west are Tan Zhenlin, Chen Yi, Liu Bocheng, Deng Xiaoping and Su Yu. The sculpture demonstrates the outstanding ability and grandiose manner of the five leaders when they were in Yaogang, Hefei, where they devised strategies and commanded hundreds of thousands of heroic PLA soldiers to cross the Yangtze River and win the victory in the vast battle fields along the Yangtze and beyond. 

The theme of the main hall of the memorial museum is embodied by the water and warships. The huge body of the museum is like two majestic warships sailing side by side on the vast water, heading directly to the Yangtze River in the south. Instead of vertical, the front facet of the museum is at an angle of 49° to the ground, standing for the victory of the Yangtze-crossing Campaign in 1949. The museum possesses a floor area of 16,550 square meters, of which, the area of 7,000 square meters is used for exhibition. The basic exhibition "the Mighty PLA Forces Swept across the Yangtze River" displays a magnificent panoramic view of the PLA and the supporting people bravely crossing the Yangtze. The exhibition reproduces the scene of the heroic war epic 74 years ago, and extols the great victory of the people's war. The museum has a collection of more than 2,000 revolutionary relics in different categories, among which, 956 are on long-term display, including 11 Grade I relics and 38 Grade II relics. 

On the afternoon of August 19, 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the museum to review the revolutionary history and refresh the memories of revolutionary martyrs. During his inspection, he noted "the victory of the Huaihai Campaign comes from the people who pushed wooden wheelbarrows and the victory of the Yangtze-crossing Campaign comes from the people who rowed small boats. At any time, we must remain true to our original aspiration, keep our mission firmly in mind, never forget the people who are the root of our victory, and always be loyal to them in our service. 

Since the opening of the museum, we have continuously explored the history of the campaign, endeavored to find more revolutionary relics, better tell revolutionary stories, and inherit revolutionary tradition. The honors awarded to the museum include "National Defense Education Demonstration Base (in the 3rd batch)", "National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base", and "the Party History and National History Education Base (in the 1st batch) recognized by the National Working Committee of Caring for Younger Generation". In addition, it is rated as an AAAA tourist attraction and a national Grade II museum. As of now, nearly 10 million people have visited the museum.

Anhui Museum of Historical Notables is located on the western side of the Yangtze-crossing Campaign Memorial on Yungu Road, Hefei, Anhui Province. Facing the vast Chaohu Lake with an area of 800 square kilometers, it is currently the largest notables-themed museum in China. The venue covers an area of 65,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 38,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 9,000 square meters. It was officially opened to the public for free on October 10, 2015. 

The exhibition“Notables in Every Generation from Jianghuai”integrates knowledge,experience and interaction.It is divided into eight exhibition halls chronologically with history as the key link, namely, Ancestors in the Twilight of Civilization（Remote Antiquity-Pre-Qin Period）,Great Minds in the Remote Dynasties（Qin & Han Dynasties-Southern and Northern Dynasties), Forefathers in the Time of Cultural Prosperity（Sui & Tang Dynasties-Song & Yuan Dynasties）,Guardians of the Consolidated Country（Ming Dynasty）, Towering Figures of Numerous Schools（Qing Dynasty),Trailblazers in the Time of Change (Late Qing Dynasty-Republic of China), Pioneers in the Time of War (The Republic of China-PRC), Accomplished Performers in Operas(Qing Dynasty-PRC). More than 90 groups of 120 historical celebrities with Anhui membership or with ties to Anhui are exhibited. Interpret the changes of Chinese civilization through historical figures, the regional humanistic characteristics of Anhui has been presented, which leads the audience to comprehend the history, learn form the historical notables, and appreciate the legendary charm of Anhui. 

Because of its plentiful exhibition, high quality service, and complete facility, Anhui Museum of Historical Notables has received many titles, such as the national 4A-level tourist attraction, the national second-class museum, the seventh batch of international cultural exchange bases for overseas Chinese in China, and the first batch of national research and practice education bases for primary and secondary school students, etc. With an average annual reception of nearly one million tourists, it is an important window for audiences to know and understand Anhui, and also a major position for enhancing cultural self-confidence of Chinese people.
