On January 12, 2017, in Yingheji Town, Shouxian County, Anhui Province, 84 year old veteran Zhu Bao said, "I entrust my life to you." What exactly does this veteran want to entrust?
Zhu Baosong, male, born in Shouxian County, Anhui Province, resolutely joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army in February 1949 at the age of 16. He was subordinate to the 12th Army of the 2nd Field Army and the 3rd Corps during the river crossing campaign, and later participated in a series of campaigns to understand and enlarge the southwest. In March 1952, in order to defend his country, he actively responded to the call of the Party and participated in the Korean War. As a member of the radio team investigating the movements of enemy planes, Zhu Baosong spent the most time in Korea living in tunnels, wearing plain clothes, eating fried rice, and drinking snow water. Even though his hands and feet were frozen and the pain was excruciating, he never complained about it. Every day, he had to carry the radio with his comrades to drill caves, climb mountains, set up antennas, and upload the situation of the front-line positions to the rear at any time. He then issued the combat instructions from the rear to the front line. Without completing the task of conveying intelligence, he would never retreat. After the victory of the Korean War, Zhu Baosong was demobilized in 1954. Returning to the place, Zhu Lao said that when faced with difficulties in work, he would always open this small bag, which contained his "life", and entrust it to the Cross River Campaign Memorial Hall, Let it be with its sacrificed comrades, never separated! It also belongs to them, to every hero who sacrificed on the battlefield!
Have you guessed what the veteran is entrusted with? There are five commemorative medals in total, including one for the Crossing the River Campaign, one for the victory of the liberation of Southwest China, two for the War of Resistance against US Aggression and Aid to Korea, and one for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. I am a soldier, and I also donate the August 1st emblem that I have treasured for 63 years after demobilization to you. My comrades and I will never be separated, "the old man said, almost choked up.
We express our gratitude to the elderly and assure them that we will play a significant role in the education of the Red Revolution through commemorative medals. We will make good use of this vivid red teaching material to provide spiritual baptism for more tourists.
In fact, what veterans entrust is not so much a lifelong honor, but rather a revolutionary spirit of fighting for their ideals and beliefs, an unparalleled loyalty to the Party and the people, a firm belief in the revolutionary cause, and a source of motivation for every Chinese child to "roll up their sleeves and work hard".
